BROWSER HELP:

• I don't hear any sound or the volume is too low

To hear the instruction, you need to have speakers and a sound card. To modify the volume in Windows, go to the Control Panel and select Multimedia. Then adjust the volume control. To modify the volume on the Mac, go to the Control Panels, select Monitors & Sound, and click the Sound button. Be sure the Mute checkbox is not selected and adjust the volume control.

• I don't see anything in the training module window

To see the Flash animations, you need to have the Flash plug-in installed. The version of Netscape Navigator that is included with this CD automatically installs the required plugins. To install Netscape on the PC, open the folder Communicator 4.6 for Windows and double-click the file named "cc32e461.exe". On the Mac, open the folder Communicator 4.6 Complete and double-click the file titled "start here".

• I am getting messages saying that I am running out of memory

To correct memory problems, close all applications other than your browser and/or internet service provider. On the Mac, you should increase the memory allotment for the browser and turn off virtual memory.

  • To increase the browser memory on the Mac, highlight the browser icon and press command-I. Then type in the recommended memory amount or increase it by 5 or 10 MB.

  • To turn off virtual memory, go to the Control Panels and select Memory. Select the off radio button next to virtual memory.

• I can't view any of the videos

To view the videos, you must have Quicktime 3.0 or later. On the PC, open the QuickTime 3.0.2 for PC folder and double-click the file named "QuickTime30.exe". On the Mac, open the QuickTime 3.0.2 for Mac folder and double-click the file named "Install QuickTime".

• ...Pause a movie?

In Windows, to pause a movie in progress, right click on the movie screen to reveal the Flash movie Pause/Resume dialog box and uncheck Play. On the Mac, press the control button and click in the movie area to reveal the Flash movie Pause/Resume dialog box. When you are ready
to begin again, check the Play option.

• ...Review the previous movie?

To review the previous movie, press the left arrow. You will hear the same movie that you just heard. Press the left arrow again to see the movie before it.

• ...Fast forward to the next movie?

To move to the next movie while a movie is playing, press the forward arrow.

• ...Go to a specific movie or course topic?

Use the Course Content Outline to go to a particular movie within one of the course modules. The Course Content Outline is a comprehensive list of all the topics covered in the course, by module. To review a specific topic, click the heading name to go directly to that movie.

• ...Look up words mentioned in the course modules?

You can look up the definition of a word mentioned in the course modules by going to the Glossary of Terms. Also, some difficult-to-pronounce words include a sound icon following the definition. Click this icon to hear the correct pronunciation of the term.

• ...Print the text version of the course audio?

From the Course Content Outline, click the text icon to print the text version of a course module.
